The Orange Giraffe Project was founded in 2008 by Maggie Chang, Julia Zakhari, and Jordan Drosdick, friends and classmates from the University of Pennsylvania. They currently live and work in New York City and share a strong belief in therapy through art and in empowering other women. Our team also consists of a much larger group of supporters who generously give their time, energy, and resources.
Maggie Chang
Maggie received her BA in Visual Studies, which provided her with knowledge of aesthetics and its affects on the brain and body. Her work in public schools in Spanish Harlem has led her to pursue her Masters in Art Education at Columbia University. The Orange Giraffe Project came about due to the passing from cancer of a childhood friend and her guardians. This has inspired her to put her passion for the arts and education towards a cause.
Julia Zakhari
Julia has always been passionate about finding a cure for cancer. Much of her involvement over the past several years has included conducting research at some of the world's foremost institutions including the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland and the Abramson Family Cancer Research Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. As a Fine Arts minor, Julia also appreciates the therapeutic benefits of the creative process and is glad to be able to help share this with women learning to live with cancer...until a cure is finally found.
Jordan Drosdick
Jordan is very committed to the growth of women's influence in the business and political worlds, and in society as a whole. From enabling women to better their economic circumstances, to enhancing women's role in enterprise leadership, and supporting them as they battle disease, it is all about women empowering other women. Jordan's professional focus is on project management and organizational development at Deloitte and Touche, where she is also actively involved in WIN, Deloitte's women's initiative. Additionally, Jordan volunteers with the Forte Foundation, a women's academic and professional network committed to substantially increasing the number of women business leaders.
